Incoloy® Alloy 825 (UNS N08825)

Incoloy® Alloy 825 is a premier nickel-iron-chromium alloy specifically developed to provide exceptional resistance to many of the world's most aggressive corrosive environments. While it shares the same base matrix as Alloy 800, it is bolstered by significant additions of molybdenum, copper, and titanium. This complex chemistry makes it uniquely capable of resisting both reducing and oxidizing acids, particularly phosphoric and sulfuric acids.

At Aries Alloys, we supply Incoloy 825 to industries that demand a "multi-purpose" corrosion resistant material. Our stock is sourced to ensure that every component provides the reliable service life needed in chemical processing, oil and gas, and pollution control sectors.

Specialized Performance Features
  • Resistance to Pitting & Crevice Corrosion: The addition of molybdenum provides a formidable defense against localized attacks in chloride-bearing environments.
  • Immunity to Stress-Corrosion Cracking: Its high nickel content makes it nearly immune to chloride-induced stress cracking, a common failure point for many stainless steels.
  • Aggressive Acid Defense: Exceptional performance in sulfuric and phosphoric acids, as well as oxidizing environments containing nitrates or oxidizing salts.
  • Titanium Stabilization: The inclusion of titanium prevents intergranular corrosion by stabilizing the material against sensitization during welding.
  • Versatile Working Range: Maintains good mechanical properties from cryogenic temperatures up to moderately high temperatures (1000° F / 540°C).
Material Science & Data
The Chemical Synergy:

The secret to Alloy 825's versatility lies in its balanced alloying. Nickel (38-46%) provides stress-cracking resistance, Chromium (19.5-23.5%) ensures oxidation resistance, and Molybdenum (2.5-3.5%) alongside Copper (1.5-3.0%) provides unmatched defense in reducing environments.

Mechanical Capabilities:
  • asdf
High impact strength at ambient and sub-zero temperatures.
Excellent weldability without the loss of corrosion resistance at the heat-affected zone.
High tensile and yield strength for structural reliability in pressurized systems.
Non-magnetic and highly stable across a wide range of chemical exposures.
Primary Industrial Use Cases

Aries Alloys is a key partner for Incoloy 825 in high-corrosion industrial sectors:

  • Chemical Processing: Agitators, heat exchangers, and evaporators handling sulfuric, phosphoric, and organic acids.
  • Oil & Gas Production: Downhole tubing, well-head components, and "sour gas" service where H2S and CO2 are present.
  • Pollution Control: Scrubber components for removing sulfur oxides from flue gases.
  • Nuclear Fuel Reprocessing: Components for handling radioactive waste and dissolution equipment.
  • Marine Engineering: High-strength fasteners and valves exposed to seawater and brackish water.
Available Product Forms at Aries Alloys

We stock and supply Incoloy 825 in formats complying with ASTM B423, B424, and B425:

  • Sheets & Plates: Ideal for the fabrication of tanks, vessel linings, and scrubber housings.
  • Seamless Pipes & Tubes: For high-pressure transport of corrosive chemicals and sour gas.
  • Bars & Rods: Precision-ground round bars for machining valves, pumps, and fasteners.
  • Flanges & Fittings: Custom-forged components for leak-proof, corrosion-resistant piping systems.
