Incoloy® Alloy 800 (UNS N08800)

Incoloy® Alloy 800 is a dual-purpose nickel-iron-chromium alloy engineered for both high-strength structural applications and superior resistance to oxidation and carburization at elevated temperatures. Unlike the 600-series nickel alloys, Alloy 800 features a significant iron content, making it a more economical yet highly effective solution for thermal processing. It is specifically designed to maintain a stable austenitic structure during prolonged exposure to heat, preventing the metal from becoming brittle over time.

At Aries Alloys, we supply Alloy 800 to industries that bridge the gap between heavy-duty chemical processing and high-heat power generation. Our inventory is strictly quality-vetted to ensure the material provides the consistent thermal expansion and corrosion protection your infrastructure demands.

Core Performance Features
  • High-Temperature Stability: Excellent resistance to oxidation, carburization, and sulfidation at temperatures up to 1100° F (593° C).
  • Stress-Corrosion Defense: The high nickel content provides superior resistance to chloride-ion stress-corrosion cracking compared to standard stainless steels.
  • Balanced Mechanical Properties: Offers a combination of high tensile strength and excellent creep-rupture characteristics.
  • Resistance to Aqueous Corrosion: Performs exceptionally well in many acidic and alkaline environments, making it ideal for multi-stage industrial processes.
  • Ease of Fabrication: Known for its excellent cold-forming properties and weldability using standard commercial techniques.
Technical Composition & Insights

The Nickel-Iron Balance: Alloy 800 contains a precise balance of Nickel (30-35%), Iron (39.5% min), and Chromium (19-23%). While the chromium provides oxidation resistance, the iron content allows the material to remain more cost-effective while providing the necessary structural weight for large-scale industrial equipment.

Mechanical Capabilities:
  • Maintains its ductility even after long-term service in the 1000° F to 1400° F range.
  • Superior resistance to "metal dusting" in high-carbon atmospheres.
  • High fatigue strength for components subject to thermal flux.
  • Non-magnetic under most conditions.
