CP Titanium Grade 7 (Ti-0.15Pd)
CP Titanium Grade 7 is a high-performance, commercially pure grade that has been enhanced with a small addition of palladium (0.12% to 0.25%). This specific alloying makes it the most corrosion-resistant of all titanium grades, particularly in reducing acid environments and where crevice corrosion is a major concern.
At Aries Alloys, we supply Grade 7 titanium to industries that operate under the most aggressive chemical conditions. Our materials provide the structural integrity of pure titanium combined with a specialized "palladium shield" to ensure maximum equipment lifespan in hostile media.
Elite Performance Features
- Ultimate Corrosion Defense: Unmatched resistance to dilute reducing acids (like hydrochloric and sulfuric acids) and halide solutions.
- Crevice Corrosion Immunity: The palladium content provides a protective electrochemical effect, preventing localized attacks in tight joints and gaskets.
- Excellent Fabricability: Despite its advanced resistance, it behaves similarly to Grade 2 in terms of bending, welding, and cold forming.
- High Thermal Efficiency: Excellent heat transfer properties, making it ideal for cooling and heating corrosive fluids.
- Extreme Temperature Tolerance: Maintains its mechanical properties and corrosion resistance from cryogenic temperatures up to 1000°F (538°C).
Technical Insight
Chemical Composition:
Grade 7 is essentially CP Grade 2 with the strategic addition of Palladium (Pd). This tiny percentage of palladium significantly shifts the material’s anodic polarization curve, making it stable in environments where standard titanium might fail.
Mechanical Capability:
- Physical and mechanical properties are nearly identical to Grade 2.
- Moderate strength with high ductility.
- Superior resistance to "under-deposit" corrosion and pitting.
- Non-magnetic and highly stable in high-pressure vessels.
Critical Industry Applications
Aries Alloys is a trusted partner for Grade 7 titanium in sectors where equipment failure is not an option:
- Chemical Synthesis: Critical components for reactors, autoclaves, and piping systems handling organic and inorganic acids.
- Brine & Salt Processing: Evaporators and crystallizers in salt production where high chloride levels are present.
- Mining & Hydrometallurgy: Used in pressure acid leaching (PAL) systems and ore processing equipment.
- Pulp and Paper: Bleaching equipment and chlorine dioxide environments.
- Oil & Gas Recovery: Downhole components and wellhead equipment exposed to sour gas and high-salinity water.
Available Product Portfolio
We maintain a robust inventory of CP Titanium Grade 7 in various forms:
- Sheets & Plates: Cold-rolled and hot-rolled options for vessel linings and baffles.
- Pipes & Tubing: Seamless and longitudinal welded pipes for chemical transport.
- Solid Bars: Round, square, and hex bars for machining high-resistance fasteners.
- Forgings: Custom flanges, tube sheets, and forged rings for high-pressure applications.
